Our History

Spokesman Review Tower

Designed in 1891, The Spokesman-Review Tower pictured above serves as headquarters for Cowles Company. Located at corners of Riverside and Monroe streets in downtown Spokane, Washington, this location housed its printing presses until newly acquired versatile commercial presses were installed in Spokane Valley and operations relocated June of 2020.

Including The Review founded in 1883, later The Spokesman and Spokane Daily Chronicle newspapers, as well as hundreds of local and regional business periodicals, Cowles Company has printed your community’s publications for more than 140 years.

Northwest Offset Printing (NWOP) is the premier commercial offset printer located in Spokane Valley, Washington. We are the direct evolution from printing facilities that have printed the Cowles family-owned regional newspaper, The Spokesman-Review, for over 140 years. Since printing the first edition of The S-R in our brand-new facility, June of 2020, NWOP has acquired and printed dozens of new customer’s regional and national publications.

No longer simply a newspaper printer, we now offer versatile four-color heat set and cold web printing on coated and uncoated stocks across a wide variety of formats: sheeted, standard, tabloid, and quarter fold. We specialize in producing medium to high volume publication-type products for custom delivery throughout the Pacific Northwest and far beyond.

Taking the time to build it right, we continue to develop and expand our complete services of preflight, print, bindery, direct mail, and custom delivery.

Proud of our richly storied heritage as a regional newspaper printer, we look forward to forging ahead as the premier commercial printer of the Pacific Northwest!
